What we cover
From getting started to running a portfolio, we cover the things that actually matter day to day: the Renters’ Rights Act and possession, tenancy management, compliance and safety (gas, electrical, EPC, damp and mould), deposits and fees, tax, and getting better returns from buy-to-let. We also review the products landlords rely on, from carbon monoxide alarms to smart thermostats.
Our editorial standards
Landlord content is “your money or your life” material — a wrong figure or an out-of-date rule can lead a reader into an unlawful action. So we hold ourselves to clear standards:
- Accuracy first. Every legal and tax claim is checked against primary sources — GOV.UK, legislation.gov.uk, HMRC and official regulators — which we link inline so you can verify them.
- Kept current. We update our guides as the law changes — and the law is changing fast. Articles carry an “Updated” date so you know how fresh they are.
- Plain English. Clear, practical and jargon-free, written for busy landlords, not lawyers.
- England-focused. Rules differ across the UK; unless a guide says otherwise, it covers England.
- Corrections welcome. If you spot something that needs updating, tell us and we’ll review it.
